This body of work reflects my inner life and the unity of the spiritual and the corporeal. The visual metaphors for this are reflected in the contrasts and contradictions within the works. Qualities of rigidity and flexibility, concealment and transparency, sensuousness and austerity are unified by repetition and harmonizing of colors, fabrics and technique.
Semi-rigid, open-work structures of wire and fabric imply both cages and protective armor and are layered over soft, clingy garments alluding to both sensuality and vulnerability. The more rigid, open-work outer structures suggest exoskeletons, inspired by foundation, decorative or military garments such as breastplates, hoop skirt cages, epaulettes and capes.
