This project combined re-purposed industrial materials with installation, art wear and performance. The Vault is a small gallery space created from an old banker’s vault, located within the Infinite Om Bookstore in Fairfield, Iowa. The weathered walls and arched ceiling create an intimate and mysterious space. This proved to be an ideal location for Veil, an installation created entirely from cable (zip) ties in forms reminiscent of Spanish moss.

On the opening night, dancers Wendy Stegall, Sebastiana Bales, Regine Constant, Meret Giacomini and Suzanne Stryker, wearing artwear constructed from the same materials, improvised a variety of movements, sounds and mimes in the space.

This installation has also been shown in Des Moines, Iowa (see artStop: Project Spaces) and Chapel Hill, North Carolina (see Sculpture Visions). The Fairfield exhibition was sponsored by Teeple Hansen Gallery.  For additional views of the costumes see: World of Wearable Art and Niagara.
